Obituary for Reuben James Davey

Calumet
Reuben J. Davey, 86, a resident of Calumet, passed away Saturday January 24, 2015, at Our Lady of Mercy Health and Rehab in Hubbell where he had been a resident patient for the past two years.

He was born on February 28, 1928, in Calumet a son of the late Reuben and Edith (Lobb) Davey.

He graduated from Calumet High School.

Reuben was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army in the 45th Infantry during the Korean War.

Reuben was employed at C & H and also as a bus driver for CLK Schools and after retirement he drove bus for Kermit’s Keweenaw Kids.

On September 2, 1950, he was united in marriage to Ethelyn Schultz and she preceded him in death on October 17, 2014.

In his younger years Reuben enjoyed organizing the 4th of July activities in Calumet, bowling and hunting.

He was a member of Calumet United Methodist Church, Calumet Laurium VFW Post 3900 serving as past Commander, past Grand Noble of Odd Fellows, and past Chief Ranger of the Foresters.

Preceding him in death were twin infant sons, infant daughter Carol Ann, daughter Ruthann and wife Ethelyn.

grandchildren: Jennifer Butkovich, Tracy Bielby and Todd LaBonte and three great grandchildren
Several nieces, nephews, and cousins

Funeral services for Reuben will be held Thursday January 29, 2015, at 2:00 PM in the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home of Calumet with Pastor Ken Toth and Pastor Bob White to officiate. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.

Friends may call on Thursday January 29, 2015, from 1 pm until time of services at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family suggests that memorials be given to the Calumet Methodist Church Memorial Fund in memory of Reuben Davey.
