Obituary for Stephen James Frankovich

Stephen Frankovich, 58, a resident of Hancock passed away at his home on Tuesday September 15, 2015, after a long illness.

Steve was born on May 15, 1957 in Detroit, a son to James and Ruth (Fraki) Frankovich. He graduated from Kimball High School in Royal Oak, Michigan in 1975.

Steve was employed as an EMT and then Paramedic in Lower Michigan until he obtained his degree as a Registered Nurse. He returned to the Copper Country nearly 15 years ago, living in Laurium and working as a nursing supervisor at Portage Health.

Steve played hockey in his youth and over the years enjoyed horseback riding, hunting and boating with his sons. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and his constant companion, particularly during his illness, was his dog, Harley.

He was preceded in death by his father James Frankovich. He is survived by his mother, Ruth Frankovich of Houghton, his aunt, Carol Bennetts of Calumet, his sisters Teresa Frankovich of Marquette, Mary Raber of Houghton and Linda (Jamie) Russell of Skaneateles, NY. He is also survived by his two sons, Jay (Brooke) Frankovich of Texas and Rob (Debbie) Frankovich of Virginia, as well as 5 grandchildren and 4 nephews.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his friends Jay, Carol, Virginia & Paul and Bob, who supported him with caring compassion over the past two years.

A funeral service will be held on Friday September 18, 2015 at 6:00 PM in the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet with Deacon Art Stancher to officiate.

Visitation will be on Friday from 5-6 PM in the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet.

Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
