Mabel K.Usitalo, 88, a former Laurium resident and presently a resident of The Bluffs in Houghton passed away Friday evening January 20, 2006 at the Portage Health System in Hancock where she was a resident patient for the previous 3 days.

The former Mabel Parske was born on October 19, 1917 in Allouez a daughter of the late Einard & Helga Jukuri Parske and was a graduate of Calumet High School with the class of 1935.

While living in Kearsarge she was employed as a bookkeeper at the Wolverine Meat Market until moving to Chicago. She later moved to Detorit where she was employed by the Excello Corporation until her marriage. During her years in Detroit she was a devoted wife & mother.
After her husband=s retirement in 1973 she returned to Laurium to make her home.

She was married to Richard Usitalo on Se;pt. 28, 1946 in Detroit and he passed away on May 26, 1995.

Mabel was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, a sister Clara, & 2 brothers, Homer & Marvin

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday January 25, 2006 at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet with the Rev. Richard Eskola to officiate. Interment will be in the Lake View Cemetery in the spring.
Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet on Tuesday January 24, 2006 from 3 to 5 & 7to 9 P.M. and 1 hour prior to services at the Church on Wednesday. or at www.ericksoncrowley .com.
