Obituary for James Egan

In loving memory of James Egan II
Born 9-23-82 to 10-18-11
Human language is limited spiritually and emotionally. It is unable to match the magic, strength, and power that exist in the songs created by birds, wolves, the wind or rain drops finding their way back into a lake.
We attempt to create our own songs, ceremonies, and poems in hopes to contain what nature does, as we search for new ways to live in our world. As we progress ever further into a modern technical world filled with codes for language are we not saying to mother earth that sustains all that makes our songs that it is not of value not just to us but to itself; the very workings of the natural world.
A clay water jar contains the water that a trout once swam in or many wild animals’ water needs where sustained by this water. The jar is made from the earth which perhaps housed a mother bear for the winter as she gave birth to her cubs. The clay jar is a bridge for the earth’s elements; water, air, and fire; humans are bridged to the elements with the water jar as well for it is a reservoir of friendship and love. We are beckoned by the clay water jar to offer such love, friendship, and harmony back to the world daily as we learn more of the earth and it’s creatures. To know the earth and it’s creatures is to know the earth is also a container for our lives. Some are untouched and wild; others are shaped and moved by those who care for them.
Until our place as a guest at the table of bounty is grasped, the earth will refuse to support us and will turn on us.
The water jar is our reminder of how the earth and water love each other; meeting at the shore on a moon lit night or during the day; existing as friends who dissolve in the very love for one another. This is the give and take in life where grace is created.
All our love to you James from your family; Mother: Theresa Randolph, Step Father: Michael Faunt, Brothers: Andrew Randolph and family, Brittany, Rylan, Elliott Egan and family, Lesley, Alex, Edward, Joe Egan and family, Melissa, and Cameron.
