Obituary for Wilho August Michaelson

Wilho A. Michaelson, 92, a resident of Calumet passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, August 20, 2018.

He was born on May 13, 1926 in Finlayson, Minnesota to Emil and Anna Michaelson and raised in Traprock Valley.

He attended the local schools at the little red school house in the valley.

Following high school, Wilho enlisted with the US Army. He was honorably discharged on November 20, 1946.

Wilho loved spending quality time with his immediate family, as well as his extended family members.

He was a major supporter of several church projects. He also contributed to many projects around the community as well.

He was an avid carpenter. His creations were very detailed which showed his amazing working ability. He was also very mechanically inclined. He was also a self-taught musician. He was a very talented harmonica player, and his favorite type of music to play was Christian Hymns.

On April 10, 1948 he married Clara Kivisto in Detroit.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Clara, and 2 daughters, Denise and Diane.

He is survived by:
His Son: David, and his wife, Diane Michaelson of Fon Du Lac, WI, and their children Anna, Leah, and Greta, along with their grandchildren, Magdalene, Adrien, Beatrice, Oliver, Charlotte, and Matilda.
His daughter: Carol, and her husband, Bernard Wargiela of Davisburg, MI, and their children, Rachel, Candace, Rebekah, along with their grandchildren, Chloe’ and Brant
His daughter Marie Michaelson of Calumet
And his daughter Denise’s children, Matthew, Marc, and Darin along with their grandchildren Denise, Ethan, Gabriel, and Kyle

And numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 12:00 pm at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet with Pastor Elmer Liimatta to officiate. Friends may come to the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service on Saturday, August 25, 2018.

Burial will take place in the Lake View Cemetery.
