Condolence: My favorite version of Batman is the one drawn by the artist who penciled the first issue of Detective Comics that I ever read- Norm Breyfogle. Breyfogle's characters seemed to be in constant motion, ready to leap right off the page. The villains, even the silly ones, seemed a bit more sinister in Breyfogle's renderings. They had to be in order to compete with Breyfogle's Batman- an angular, omnipotent force of nature that cast an imposing, grandiose shadow across Gotham City. It was love at first sight for eight-year-old me in 1989. I followed Breyfogle from Detective Comics to Batman, to Shadow of the Bat, to Prime, and finally, Bloodshot, which was around when I stopped regularly reading comic books. In 2008 I came across his website and immediately ordered his sketchbook and sent him a gushing email about how big a fan I was of his artwork. He was nice enough to add a sketch of Batman to the cover of his sketchbook for me. I was saddened when he suffered the stroke that paralyzed his left side, but happy that DC Comics gave him his due by publishing a volume of his collected works. I'm even sadder now that Norm Breyfogle is no longer with us. Rest In Peace, Norm, and thank you so much.

Condolence: I met Norm and his family when they moved to our little town. Being a little town, we all knew each other. Norm attended that little Church on top of the hill. I always enjoyed seeing his art work and wished that I could do that. I lost touch with him after high school but knew that he had continued on with his art work. I was sorry to see this news of his passing. Condolences, peace and prayers to his family and friends as you go through this difficult time.

Condolence: Like so many others, I discovered Norm's art in the pages of BATMAN, and I've since discovered how incredibly prolific he was. From WHISPER to METAPHYSIQUE, to his poems online, his words and drawings will always capture the imagination and inspire new heights of creativity. Thank you, Norm -- you drew my hero, and you are my hero.

Condolence: Norman and I got confirmed together and were in the same Catechism class. I had been visiting with him for the last year and we had always had enjoyable visits. I was saddened deeply by hearing of his early passing and want to convey my deepest sympathy to his family. He will be missed, but also remembered, for he left the world his talented comic artwork!

Condolence: Words cannot express what a huge impact Norm had on my life. I first became a fan of his work in my very early teens and was blessed to later become a friend (and still a fan) of the great man himself. Truly one of the greats. My condolences.

Condolence: Norms work Influenced me in my youth to become a better person. But being a friend on Facebook and following his views and struggles of the last few years just proved what an amazing person he was. He was taken from the world before his time. Rest in peace Norm, the bat signal shines tonight for you
