Obituary for Rita M Trevethan (Kuru)

Rita M. Trevethan, 77, a resident of Houghton passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019 at UP Health System-Portage.

She was born on August 25, 1942 in Lake Linden to Robert and Fiina (Ollila) Kuru. She attended the Lake Linden Schools and graduated with the Class of 1961. Following high school she began waitressing at the Coffee Cup in Hancock. Later she went to work as an office assistant for Dr. Archibald in Laurium for several years before going to work as the secretary at the Calumet United Methodist Church. She then went to complete her CNA classes and began working at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where she retired after working for 28 years.

She loved spending time with her family and she cherished her time she spent with her kids and grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Fiina Kuru, her brothers, Ralph, Wilfred, Clarence, Paul, and her sisters, Mildred, Sally, Margaret “Honey”, and Patricia “Patsy”.

She is survived by:

Julie (Mark) Wroblewski of Lake Linden
Joe (Rhonda Hill) Trevethan of Calumet

Her grandchildren: Ben Miller & Katie Miller Lazzari, Mandy Lepisto & Jared Trevethan, Emily & Daniel Wroblewski, Casey, Kelsey, Jaida, Logan, Nicholas, Tyler, Kyle, Jordan, Chase, Karena, & Jaxx Trevethan

Her brother: Bill (Kathy) Kuru of Fond du lac, Wisconsin
Her sisters: Mary (Ed) Grussi of Nevada
Mabel (James) Sorvala of Laurium

And numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home on Friday September 13, 2019 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday September 14, 2019.

Burial will take place in the Oskar Cemetery.
