Obituary for Joyce Joan Nakkula (Jokela)
Joyce Joan Nakkula, 75, of Calumet, passed away into the immortal arms of God at UP health system Marquette on the morning of May 31st surrounded by her two surviving children, Ted/Laura Nakkula and Michelle/Scott Pastor. Joyce Nakkula was born on July 10th, 1944. She grew up in Calumet and graduated from Calumet High School in 1962, working numerous jobs in nursing, elderly care, and child care, following her instincts to help and care for all she could. She married Rupert Nakkula on March 7th, 1970 in Trinity Lutheran Church in Warren, MI.
Waiting for her in heaven was her husband Rupert, her son Craig Nakkula, her parents Ellen and August Jokela, and countless other friends and family. She is remembered by her many grandkids, including Sheila/Josh, Kristen, Craig, Alex/Kylie, Samantha/Ken, Ryan/Lydia, Kylie. Great grandkids include Alaina, Rowan, Jayna, Warren, Kayden, Lily, Grace, Lucy, Shawn, Hayden, Malik. Joyce was a light of love in an uncertain world and was admired by all she knew. Her favorite place in the world was the family camp where she spent much time over the years with various family and friends.
