Obituary for Barb Perkola

Barbara Perkola (Kowalski) gained her angel wings surrounded by her family on December 25th, 2020 after a short battle with lung cancer. Born to Roman and Cecelia Kowalski on July 14, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan. Barbara’s greatest joy was her family. She was a talented cake decorated and loved to work on crafts for her children and grandchildren. Gift we will cherish forever and hold close to our hearts always.
Barbara moved to the Copper Country where she met and married Lauren Perkola on May 16th, 1970. He was the love of her life. They made a home in Kearsarge Location until his death in 2007. She then moved to Calumet to be closer to the kids. She is preceded in death by her husband Lauren, brothers: Leonard, Frank, George, Robert, Theodore, Edward, Joseph, Chester, Roman, and Clarence Kowalski, sisters: Helen Kopp and Delores Schwartz, daughter in law Kristina Adams, and her great granddaughter Faith.
Barbara is survived by her children; Michael (Sherry) Adams of Tamarack, Faye (Richard) Rule of Kearsarge, Richard Adams of Calumet, Brenda (Paul) DeMarios of Calumet, Laura (Nate) Rowe of Hancock, Susie (Roger) Gronlund of Calumet, and Denise (Marv) Carpenter of Florida, her grandchildren Danielle Adams and Frankie, Sarah (Kyle) Codere, Ashley Niemela and Scott, Brian and Lauren Adams, Tammy (Karl) Seymour, Ricky and Tina Rule, Atrayou Siverly and Larissa, Kougar Crater, Celia and Mary DeMarios, Garrett, Trevor, Jordyn, and Grace Rowe, Scott and Michelle Carpenter, Roger (Margie) Gronlund, and Nicole (Sean) Binder, great grandchildren: Gabe, Cora, Vera, Austin, Daniel, Finn, Ava, Piper, Lizzy, Jayce, Rogan, Kimberly, Melanie, Chaice, Quinn, and Karley, Sisters; Shirley Bracco of Calumet and Phyllis Stukel of Copper City. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to thank the nurses that helped care for Barbara during her final days at home. At Barbara’s wishes, cremation will take place with a family gathering in the spring.
