Janice was born in Calumet, Michigan to the late Wallace and Agnes Heikkila (Carlson). She moved to Waukegan, IL at age 19 and made Illinois her home. She worked for 10 years at the VA Hospital in Waukegan and then moved to the American Can Company, where she retired from their human resources group in 1998. Janice loved skiing, travelling, visiting family and friends, and volunteering in many community organizations.

A funeral service is planned at Trinity United Lutheran Church (658 Grand Ave, Waukegan, IL, 60085) at 11am on Saturday, March 18, 2023. Burial will be in her family plot in South Range, Michigan.
