Obituary for Scott John Laurie

Scott Laurie, age 63, passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, April 29th, 2023 in Copper City, Michigan.

Scott was born at Calumet Public Hospital in Laurium, Michigan on August 23, 1959, to parents, Ted and Mabel Laurie. He attended Calumet High School and graduated in 1978. After high school, Scott attended Suomi College, graduating with Honors obtaining an associate degree in applied science in 1989. Scott worked at the Phoenix House as a substance abuse counselor and eventually Director. He later delivered and drove trucks for Sara Lee and Pan-O-Gold Bakery.

Scott was known recently as "Buppy" to his four granddaughters.

He was a lifelong Boston Bruin fan. Scott had a love for playing baseball and had many awards and trophies from numerous leagues and tournaments throughout the UP. More often than not, you could find him in the backwoods of the Keweenaw on a snowmobile adventure. He enjoyed his Mustang and the Camp in retirement. Deer season was his most favorite time of year, always looking to bag the thirty-point buck. He was very proud of his 37-year sobriety.

Scott is preceded in death by his Parents Ted and Mabel Laurie, Sister Donna Nordstrom, and Brother Derrill Laurie

Scott is survived by his Daughters Stephanie Laurie and Andrea (Philip) Hainault and grandchildren Aurora, Charlotte, Eleanor, and Mabel. Significant other Nicole Mrosz. Siblings: Thomas (Susie) Laurie, Bonnie Tuoriniemi (Dave Shannon), Ronald (Cheryl) Laurie, Alecia (James) Gariepy, Robyn Matthews, Kevin Laurie. In-Laws: Jean Laurie and Gerald Nordstrom. Numerous Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, and Friends.

A funeral service will be held for Scott Laurie at 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 4th, 2023, at the Erickson-Crowley-Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet, Michigan. A visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm on Thursday, May 4th, 2023 at the Erickson-Crowley-Peterson Funeral Home.
