John “Crabby Jack” Salata, age 87, of Lac La Belle, passed away at the Omega House on June 16, 2016.

John was born to John and Dora (Dow) Salata on April 9, 1929 in Fulton, MI.

He went to Calumet High School graduating with the class of 1950.

As a child John was afflicted with polio, but he did not let his disability slow him down, especially on the dance floor. He worked driving truck for Rinne Fuel, and also owned and operated The Bucket Tavern in Mohawk. He loved to spend time with his three grand kids, and follow them in their sporting events. John was also an avid fan of his favorite hockey teams ,the Calumet Copper Kings and the Calumet Wolverines.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Mary (Tierney) Salata, brother Ted Salata, sisters Katherine Umlauf, Ann Richardson, and Norma Roberts.

Surviving are:
Son: Bob (Michelle) Salata of Fulton, Michigan
Brother: Tom Salata of Pontiac, Michigan
Grandchildren: Trevor, Autumn, and Carter Salata

According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
